PADS Shelter Program
**JOURNEYS continues to update information related to its shelter program(s). For the latest information, please check this website regularly.**
The PADS Shelter Program is created in partnership with area faith communities to provide overnight shelter to those in need. The PADS shelter season runs from October 1st to April 30th each year. An active faith community will open its doors to pre-qualified JOURNEYS clients to provide a safe place to sleep, a warm dinner, and breakfast. Clients are allowed on site between 7:00PM and 7:00AM on the night the church serves as a shelter site.
In order to gain access to the program, individuals seeking shelter must register and complete intake paperwork with JOURNEYS to be qualified for participation in the program. As part of the intake process, case managers work with the clients to assess needs and identify which programs they qualify for.
Qualified clients are issued a PADS photo identification card to gain access to an available site on the nights they are awarded a slot.
Currently, demand for shelter is greater than supply, as such, JOURNEYS awards slots through a lottery process for those interested in the program.
The PADS program only operates during the winter season that runs between October 1st and April 30th.
The PADS Program is also always looking for volunteers seeking to serve those in need in the community. If interested, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Danielle Kadamian at d.kadamian@journeystheroadhome.org or (847) 963-9163 x 121
HOPE CENTER SHELTER PROGRAM
Construction of the new Hope Center / JOURNEYS office included the creation of emergency shelter space as part of the vision for building. Efforts are underway to prepare the shelter for use in the coming months. This program was created in order to supplement / support the PADS Shelter Program.
As with the PADS Program, this program (when accessible) will be made available to pre-qualified JOURNEYS clients to provide a safe place to sleep, a warm dinner, and breakfast. Program rules/guidelines are under development as the space is being prepared for opening.
Success of this program will also require significant community involvement and partnership through staffing the program/facility with volunteers during the hours of operation. If interested, contact our contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Danielle Kadamian d.kadamian@journeystheroadhome.org or
