The rock-star team at Nestle Health Sciences in Buffalo Grove hosted a bake sale over the course of 5 days in their office building. The team baked and gave away cookies in the shape of socks and underwear with each baked good purchase. Throughout the bake sale, employees collected new socks and underwear to be donated.
As a team, they collected 524 pairs of socks and underwear and a total of $1,678.82 for JOURNEYS! |
CellTrak Technologies held a team building activity this past summer where 10 teams of employees worked together to construct 10 bikes using bike parts.
This activity encouraged employees to work together to problem solve, while contributing toward a solution for the transportation problem. At the end of the day, employees built and donated 10 brand new bikes for clients. |
In honor of Prescient Solutions' 20 year anniversary, they did the “Prescient 20 for 20 Challenge” and challenged employees to do 20 push-ups for 20 days.
The executive team committed to a per push-up donation for those participating in the challenge. Employees videoed their push-ups each day and posted them to a private company video channel. It was a fun way to encourage physical activity, raise money for a good cause and get creative with some fun video posts for others to see. In total, they raised $500 for Journeys shelter! |
About JOURNEYS:
JOURNEYS | The Road Home is a non-profit agency that provides both shelter and social services to the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in 37 towns in north/northwest suburban Cook County. The mission of JOURNEYS is to individually assess and serve its clients, while broadening community awareness and involvement. The agency consists of the PADS Shelter Program, the HOPE Center Supportive Services Program, and the Pathways Housing Readiness Program focusing on intervention and assistance for those in need. In partnership with 18 faith-based emergency shelter sites JOURNEYS provides dinner and a safe, warm place to sleep from October 1st through April 30th. Year round, the clinical staff at the HOPE Center provide a wide array of services all geared to helping our clients achieve independence.
The face of homelessness has changed. Financial instability now affects a wider segment of our population, extending into the middle class and even beyond. Our goal is to not only serve the needs of these people, but the community as a whole as our efforts provide services for free, and in turn, offset costs typically absorbed by hospitals, municipalities, and legal systems. |
