Department: Clinical
Reports To: Shelter Manager
Salary: $17.50/hr
Schedule: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 32 hours/week

JOURNEYS | The Road Home is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services and shelter to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Our mission is to empower those we serve to achieve self-sufficiency through a continuum of care that includes housing, supportive services, and community engagement. Position Overview:
The Overnight Monitor will oversee the safety and security of our clients during nighttime hours. The Overnight Monitor is a newly created part time position that collaborates with volunteers and security to ensure clients have a safe environment to sleep and assist in moving them from our overnight house back to our day center.
 
Experience in human services is a plus, but not necessary. The right candidate can easily learn the skills to be an excellent human services worker.
 
Overnight Monitor Key Responsibilities:
  • Document and maintain accurate logs of nightly activities, incidents, and observations.
  • Assist volunteers, clients, or visitors with inquiries or concerns during the night.
  • During PADS Season, answer calls from PADS sites and assist with background checks.
  • Stay updated with emergency procedures and protocols
  • Occasional online work as assigned
  • Laundry duties as necessitated by the program
  • Adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Other facility duties as assigned and necessary
 
As the Overnight Monitor you will…
  • Work with multicultural communities.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with staff, volunteers, and all stakeholders.
  • Seek supervisory help regularly and accepting constructive criticism to become more skilled.
  • Build rapport quickly with people from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic groups.
  • Live out the agency’s core values while on the job, of Respect, Teamwork, Mission Driven Work, and Commitment is necessary.
  • Use Microsoft products and a web-based database or a willingness to train on them.
  • Demonstrate a passion to help the underserved.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff team.
  • Respond swiftly to emergencies.

The work schedule varies depending on the needs of the agency. Occasional evening and weekend work is necessary in order to attend meetings or to participate in events.
