In 2021, 43% of JOURNEYS clients were women and children, 368 women and children received HOPE Center services, including but not limited to meals, food pantry, clothing, showers, and laundry services.
JOURNEYS Case Managers provided 122 School System Advocacy Services. Case Managers work with the children’s school to waive school fees including lunches, before and after school care programs, arranging transportation, or gas reimbursement
for the parents.
It is our challenge to move every child and their family out of homelessness as soon as possible and this event helps us move closer to that goal.

Each year at JOURNEYS Women’s Luncheon we honor one woman who has made a HUGE impact at JOURNEYS. It is with great pleasure that we announce that this year’s Woman of the Year is Caroline Starr (C Starr Team • atproperties) for her years of service and dedication to JOURNEYS | The Road Home and the community that we serve. Caroline has been the co-host of the Leap Into HOPE Casino Night for two years along with being a generous sponsor to our other agency events for many years.
Since 2016, Caroline has served on JOURNEYS Advisory Board and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Saint Viator High School. Caroline is also a Eucharistic minister at Saint James Church in Arlington Heights and co-president of the Saint Viator High School Booster Club. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three children and is actively involved in her community.
