Access to transportation is crucial for so many basic needs. Getting to a job, medical appointments, and other services, is almost impossible in our area without using public transportation or having the resources to buy gas. Transportation vouchers for public transportation or gas cards is truly essential for many of our clients.
$250 | Welcome Home Kit for a newly housed family
Welcome home kits are a valuable resource for clients moving into a new home. These kits are packed with a wide variety of essential items including cleaning supplies and accessories to new pots and pans and dishes. All packed into either a large reusable tote or laundry basket.
$500 | One Month's Stay for 1 Client in Shelter
In March 2020, JOURNEYS was presented with two impossible tasks: Prevent the spread of the Coronavirus while remaining to be the home for those without. To address the need to provide safe shelter and to provide a way for our homeless clients to lessen their chance of being infected by COVID-19, JOURNEYS established an Emergency Hotel Placement Fund to provide hotel stays for clients.

Over the past year, the need for JOURNEYS food pantry services has grown significantly. Clients can receive supplies from the food pantry as needed. By working with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and generous donors, we are able to provide a wide selection of frozen and non-perishable foods. We had 739 food pantry visits in the past year.
$2,500 | Provide over 40 hours of Counseling
JOURNEYS has a staff of nine dedicated clinical members who provide individual counseling sessions to JOURNEYS Clients. In Fiscal Year 2023-24, JOURNEYS provided 12,888 hours of counseling and case management sessions.
